Every male magazine worth it’s salt is at some stage going to offer you the latest and greatest in terms of style advice, but with warmer days upon us and spring well and truly in full flow, we thought we’d hand pick what we consider to be our style essentials for Spring/Summer 17. Best not to get wrapped up in too many fads, like the re-emergence of camouflage which we last rocked at Notting Hill Carnival circa 1999. Keep it simple, subtle and classic and you won’t go far wrong.
1) THE SHOE – Clarks Originals Wallabee Shoe (£90)
The go to shoe for Jamaican Reggae stars past and present, the Clarks Wallabee shoe is as damn near perfection as you’ll get in spring/summer footwear. This pastel blue version is sure to brighten up your look.
2) THE TRAINER – Reebok Classic Nylon (£54.95)
Where would we be without Reebok Classics, barefoot? The running style trainer is dominating the market at the moment, but it’s these grey nylon bad boys that catch the eye.
3) THE SHORT – Zara Tan Bermuda Shorts With Darts (£29.99)
Granted Zara can be a bit hit and miss at times, but when it comes to spring/summer the iconic Spanish clothing brand know their stuff. These classic looking tan coloured shorts tick all the right boxes.
4) THE SOCK – Reiss Mario Polka Dot Socks (£12)
Reiss churn out rock solid classic menswear and these polka dot burgundy socks are no exception. Team them up with your pastel blue shoes and a pair of tan shorts and you’ll look like a leader in the spring style stakes.
5) THE BELT – Anderson’s Brown Leather Woven Belt (£99)
A woven brown leather belt, every man’s wardrobe needs one, and that friends is that!
6) THE JEAN – Nudie Thin Finn Dry Twill (£89)
Nudie if you are unfamiliar, make jeans that require some serious breaking in to achieve that perfect look. It’s recommended at least 6 months of consistent wear before washing. They’re a responsible company and use 100% organic cotton. Oh yeah and they do free repairs.
7) THE T-SHIRT – Peggs & Son Albam Classic White T-Shirt (£45)
Ah the classic white tee. Peggs & Son are fast becoming favourites here at MALESTROM HQ, and this white t-shirt is simply perfection.
8) THE JACKET – Topman Khaki Lightweight Cotton Bomber Jacket (£35)
Reasonable price, tick, khaki, tick, lightweight, tick, bomber, tick. Nice work Topman.
9) THE BAG – Sandqvist Jack Ground Olive (£62.30)
Swedish bag stalwarts Sandqvist continue to lead the way in outdoorsy apparel – not very Spring/Summer you may cry, but this olive number will keep you looking cool, while carrying your essentials.
