Never Heard of Mochi? Then you Won’t Know this Guy

The Japanese delicacy Mochi is a sweet rice cake made from the sticky rice, mochigome, which is basically pounded to within an inch of it’s life by incredibly skilled bakers. It’s a ceremonial preparation known as mochitsuki and it is traditionally served at New Year, however it’s a common sight in Japan all year round.

This wonderful short looks at Mitsuo Nakatani who is an absolute Master of his trade, and it’s truly amazing to watch him synchronise his work force as he pounds and flips at the most mind boggling of speeds. You wouldn’t see the likes of Paul Hollywood attempting this, that’s for sure!
