Uncovering Jordan

Petra in Jordan

Jordan is fast becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination, and rightly so. This beautiful country is full of breath-taking landscapes and so many different reasons to visit, here are just a few of them.

Spectacular Sights

Blessed with an uncountable number of wonders, Jordan is a country full of beauty and amazement. If you’re opting for a tour around Petra in Jordan you’ll be able to walk through Al-Siq, a deep and narrow gorge of unusual rock formations and water channels. The walk along the naturally formed Siq is stunning and suddenly the path snakes into the sunlight.

On your walk you will also come across the mesmerising Al-Khazneh, a spectacle that does not fail to impress. This monument that stands at 43 metres high and was originally carved out as a tomb for a Nabatean king in the 1st century.

This incredible history landmark makes for beautiful photos and is even more spectacular at night as hundreds of candles are lit, illuminating the rockfaces and giving off a red glow.

Take a ride

Tired of walking or just fancy trying something new? Why not take a ride on a horse and cart for a scenic view on the way to your next destination, or hop upon a camel and travel like the locals do? Some locals are fluent in many different languages and are extremely friendly so will be happy to help if you have any questions.

Visit the Dead Sea

On the border between Israel and Jordan lies the Dead Sea. This incredible natural phenomenon is aptly named as such because, aside from algae and some microorganisms, the Dead Sea contains no other life due to the salt content of the water. With almost 10 times as much salt as regular sea water, the Dead Sea has healing properties and has been known to treat ailments such as acne, cellulite and psoriasis. It’s also great for helping with muscle aches and arthritis and is so buoyant that people are able to easily float on top of it. Relax and feel weightless after a long walk around Petra’s wonders.

A once in a lifetime experience

Experience things you’ll never have seen before such as the incredible Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon. Wadi Rum is a valley that has been cut into sandstone and granite rock and is the largest Wadi in Jordan.

This breath-taking location has been inhabited since prehistoric times by many human occupants including the Nabataeans who have left their mark on the area in the form of inscriptions, petroglyphs, and temples. Extremely hot during the day and cold at night, the sandy landscapes and mesmerising sunsets are everything you could ever want from a desert.
