On September 9th Jack White is releasing a new record ‘Acoustic Recordings 1998 – 2016’, by all accounts it’s a compilation of album and b-side tracks, however there’s a little treat in the form of evocative ballad City Lights a previously unreleased White Stripes track. According to the accompanying press release it is…
“The first new, worldwide commercially released White Stripes song since 2008.”
Eight years is a long time, and The MALESTROM isn’t completely sure when this was even composed, but it still feels real, fresh and relevant. It even gives us the faintest glimmer of hope we might get Jack and Meg belting out the hits together on stage again one day. We can dream at least. So take a listen below – good things come to those who wait.
