Gangolf Ulbricht is one of the few remaining papermakers in Europe. His handmade, tree-free, delicately constructed concoctions are the preference of many major artists, photographers and printers among others, who seek out his craftsmanship due to his understanding of the process and dedication to his work, all of which takes place in his unique and rudimentary studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
A wonderful piece of storytelling it highlights not only the importance of maintaining long-held expertise and knowledge, but also how relevant it remains and the need to ensure such occupations continue in our fast-paced society with its emphasis on instant gratification.
